Thank you for purchasing one of our wigs!

Purchasing a wig is an investment, we want to help you to get the most from them and keep it looking great for longer!

Please use this page as a reference point. You can customise and maintain a wig in many ways, however sometimes advice given may not be suitable for all wigs!

We will explain how to look after your wigs and how to customise them.

Styled wigs

PictureYour wig is backed securely to avoid movement. Lightly fluff the loose fibres to revive the style.
Please handle your new wig with care when unpackaging. Your styled wig is packaged securely with a free wig stand. We do not leave space in the box as too much movement  inside will cause damage. When you have carefully unwrapped your wig place it on the wig stand and if necessary lightly 'fluff' the ends to revive. Some sections are likely to have moved during transit so you will need to gently place some sections accordingly.

If you have purchased a lace front, research how to cut the lace if you have not prepared a wig for wear before.

We unfortunately cannot accept liability for any damage caused to the wig by you opening or preparing it to wear. Styled wigs are customised products, they are not returnable under any circumstance.

If you wish to restyle the wig in the future, take care of the wig and remove the style very carefully, you may be able to restyle the wig depending on your experience and ability. Our wigs are usually teased and often cut during styling to achieve the best results, so this may limit how you can restyle.

Out-the-bag wigs

PictureIf you are new to customising wigs, please research carefully or seek advise from a professional stylist to assist you.
Please handle your new wig with care when unpackaging, any kind of disturbance to curl pattern will make the wig unsuitable for return if you have made a mistake when choosing.

All Give Head brand wigs are designed to be customised, giving you ultimate flexibility. You may wish to thin some areas to get the best result, for example placing the wig on and layering the fringe into place.

If you have purchased a lace front, research how to cut the lace if you have not prepared a wig for wear before. Our style 'Madam Couture' has a standard bang, you may need to feather or blunt cut this shorter depending on your forehead size and preference. Our Please and Tease styles '4am Hoochie' and 'Play Bunny' have a fully customisable front for you to part anywhere and add your desired bang or layering.

We unfortunately cannot accept liability for any customisation errors, we strongly recommend researching and consulting with a professional stylist if you have not customised a wig before. Investing in customisation will make your wig more realistic and manageable for wear.

Store your wig on a stand or head, only use steel or Teflon tools to brush and style. Standard plastic tools such as tangle teasers will stress the fibres and are not suitable for any kind of synthetic wig. Also use synthetic wig shampoos and products, not all human hair products are suitable for wigs and they do not have the same benefits. You can find a great range of synthetic wig products in our It's a Wig Thing range.

Refreshing, cleaning and storing your wig

PictureOnly use products and tools recommended for synthetic fibre. Human hard products can cause build up and friction.
Washing a styled wig will remove the style completely, if you only want to refresh a styled wig, clean the lace carefully with alcohol and refresh the wig with a very light mist of hair fragrance. Do not make the style damp or wet. If you need to brush through the ends to detangle, carefully grip the fibre above where you need to work, this will reduce pulling on the teased and styled sections. Store on a wig head or stand.

To wash an unstyled wig use cold water only as heat will affect the fibre structure. It is important to try to remove as many tangles and knots from the wig by hand beforehand. Empty a cap of synthetic wig shampoo into a basin of cold water and mix. Place your wig carefully into the basin and gently slide and swish the wig to allow the soapy water to work through the structure and fibres. Leave to soak for 10 minutes for the shampoo to break down any product or build up. On returning, gently swish and scrunch the wig cap and fibres under the water, however you must avoid massaging and folding the fibres like you would when washing human hair - this will cause knotting and tangling. Carefully lift the wig out of the water distributing the weigh evenly to avoid stretching the structure. If the water is extremely dirty you may need to repeat the wash process.

Once you are happy the wig is clean, fill the basin again with clean cold water and place the wig into it. Gently swishing and scrunching to remove any shampoo. Once the wig is rinsed and completely free of residue, spritz lightly the fibres with a synthetic wig spray conditioner. Lay the wig flat with the cap open, facing up on a folded towel and allow to air dry at room temperature. Air drying can take 12-48 hours, but it is the best way as applying electric drying appliances can heat the fibre and cause damage to the structure or manufacturers curl pattern.

Once completely dry, carefully detangle by hand first then brush the wig in small sections using a steel pin brush. Never pull through any tangles with the brush, it's important to stop and remove tangles or knots by hand before continuing to brush.

To store your wig flat, ensure it is completely in a wig net and placed inside your wig bag, avoid placing items on top. To store your wig displayed or styled, use a wig head or stand.
